favorite season

It is official...i have officially changed my favorite season from fall to spring. and it feels so good.

i spent last summer really going over these changes in my head. i had always loved loved loved fall. we had a great relationship. so, it was hard to say goodbye. the smell, slight warmth and sunshine of spring teased and embraced me like i had never been teased and embraced before. it was new. it was different. and i could not resist. i decided to be fair, and give fall one more chance. so, i spent this past fall of 2010 in the mid-west and really examined my feelings. the leaves were beautiful. the pumpkin patches were fun. but, my love and excitement just never was the same. spring had my heart. i spent the past couple of months moving on from our long relationship and now my heart is ready and open to embrace spring completely.

in honor of this new and amazing relationship...i am posting pictures from me and spring's love affair from 2010 in washington dc..aka...the beginning of a beautiful relationship.

can not wait to continue our romance in a few months. only 40 or so more sleeps. if we can make it through this grey, snowy winter, we can make it through anything.

first pic of me on my blog. hi! oh and sophie says hey too!

new american idol

were any of you curious enough to watch the season opener of american idol last night? I have to admit, if i were not couch-bound, i probably would not have tuned in. i have never been a big jennifer lopez fan and wasn't that excited that she was the girl judge. even still, i watched anyways.

i have to say i was positively surprised. all the judges clicked well together. j.lo was not as self-asbsorbed as she normally is and steven tyler did not look high on meds. randy also seemed to have more of a voice since simon wasn't there to overpower him. it all just clicked and had more energy than the past few years.

what did ya'll think?

update and hating on the weather

health update:

still not eating great amounts. i am fluctuating between 103.8 and 104.2 pounds. the nurse bumped up my dose on saturday, but yesterday i still couldn't keep anything down. a nurse calls me every day at lunch to check on my weight and what i am eating. she will probably bump up my dose again.

i am 12 weeks and 1 day today...so really praying that this will pass within the next few weeks.

since i am malnourished, unstable and cranky and confined to my couch, that has given me lots of time to realize that i am so over winter. i know i know, a southern girl always should appreciate a good snow. in the south though, it gets cold for a couple of weeks and we might get a 1/2 inch of snow every couple of years. but, then it warms back up to 50 degress and we move on our way. i didn't realize until now how unrealistic that is for the rest of the country. it snows. then it turns to brown. then it is only 8 degrees, so it turns to ice. car crashes ensue (i became aware of this on christmas eve). then it stays cloudy. for days and days and days. and days. oh and days. in order to not sink into a deep depression, i am reminding myself that march is normally the month where things warm up. that's a month and a half away. ok doable. i am aslo sinking myself into the picture that a lucky southern friend took below:

you are welcome to bask in the picture with me...that should hold us off until spring.

life changing news

some of you may have noticed that this "food junkie" has not talked about food in quite awhile. and the reason is because...i am pregnant and am barely even keeping down juice. it is still so weird to say that i am pregnant. unbelievable. it is such a precious and gracious gift from the Lord.

it has been a long journey that the Lord has taught me so much through. the journey included ovarian cysts. endomitriosis. and three surgeries.

i was not on any medication when we got pregnant. i decided to take the natural route through the spring of 2011. then if i wasn't pregnant, begin some hormones. i took juice plus, some chinese herbs, vitamin d, and began to change my eating habits based on the book "making babies."

i found out i was pregnant at 3.5 weeks (basically, the very first day i could test and get a positive). at 5 weeks, i began to get really sick and have been battling morning sickness. scratch that. all day sickness ever since. i have currently lost 15 pounds, so the dr. put me on a pump that gives me nausea meds through my stomach 24/7. praying that this works because i can not lose anymore weight and stress the baby out.

i am also on bed rest because my cyst problem has not gone away. i have a large 5.5 cm cyst just hanging out.

even still, i am so thankful to be given this experience. i can't believe this is all happening and just praying to carry this baby through full term!

i don't get it?

i love tv. it makes me laugh, cry, learn, not learn, etc. one of my favorite things to watch are talk shows. i am not talking about shows like..."pregnant after vegas, is one of you my baby's daddy? (no lie...just passed that one while changing channels)," and "i can't believe you slept with my best friend's sister" etc. i am talking about shows that interview people and teach the viewers about health and recipes and most importantly make me laugh. however, there are two shows that i absolutely do not get. and actually, i am confused as to why they are even on the air? i truly do not get it. the two shows are:

1.

the wendy williams show

awkward silences, the audience doesn't laugh at her jokes...i feel like she is the random friend at the table who is really trying to be funny and everyone is just humoring her.

2.

lopez tonight
i have tried to watch his show three times because he comes on after conan (aka...the best talk show ever). and i can honestly say i did not crack a smile once. in fact, i was confused. who are all the people in the audience busting a gut over this guy? are they a fake audience? did they paste them in there from another show to look like hundreds of people were having a blast at the george lopez show?

i am curious...do any of you watch these shows? if so, i truly am curious....i want to know why! explain it to me because i just don't get it!!!
